Frequently Asked Questions on Tattoo Removals

How many treatments will I need?

Unfortunately, we can’t predict how many you will need.  Most clients require a minimum of 5 to 10 treatments for complete tattoo removal.  The laser only does fifty percent of the work, the rest depends on factors such as the age, size and location of the tattoo, the ink colors used, your skin type, any underlying scarring or other conditions and your individual health.

How long will it take to remove my tattoo entirely?

You can estimate your final results by multiplying the approximate number of treatments your tattoo is assigned by the 6 to 8 week healing period. Some clients may see results after a few months, while others may take a year to get desired results. Although laser tattoo removal is a long process, the results are well worth the wait!

Can I come back sooner than 6-8 weeks?

Your immune system really needs that full time period to go through the process of removing the unwanted ink, so if you come back sooner it is just going to cost you more money and not yield results any faster!

How long are treatments?

Laser tattoo removal is a very fast process.  Most appointments take less than 10 minutes!

How much does laser tattoo removal cost?

At Nova Lux, we offer quality tattoo removal results at an affordable price. Each treatment is priced according to the size, color, and number of treatments needed to provide long-lasting results. We offer consultations for a low fee, which will be applied to the first treatment if you decide to move forward with removal. We also offer treatment packages and discounts to help clients save on laser tattoo removal.

Is the laser painful?

Most clients report that it resembles a sensation of a rubber band snapping against the skin, or grease splatters hitting the skin.  Any discomfort is short-lived and usually resolves once the laser treatment is completed.  We offer ice packs and numbing cream to maximize a comfortable experience.

Are there any side effects?

Our Duality laser targets and shatters ink without damaging the surrounding skin tissue. The most common temporary side effects include redness, swelling, itching, scabbing, and occasionally blistering.  These side effects are usually temporary and will resolve over 3-5 days following  treatment.  We provide detailed after care instructions to minimize any discomfort. Some clients experience changes in pigmentation in the skin after the laser treatment.  This is usually due to sun exposure or “picking” at the skin and will most likely resolve with time.

Can I bring a visitor?

We ask that all visitors wait outside the building.  No extra individuals can be in the laser room due to safety reasons.

Do you offer refunds?

No.  The laser only does half of the work.  Since laser tattoo removal/fading depends on many factors outside of our control we are unable to offer refunds.  Remember, it is a process and results are not instantaneous, but with patience and good aftercare you will be happy with the outcome!

Is there anyone who should not receive laser tattoo removal?

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding we ask that you wait until you have given birth or weaned.  Those undergoing chemotherapy, or are within six months of their last treatment should not get laser tattoo removal as their immune system is not able to dispose of the shattered ink particles.  Clients who have taken Accutane within the last 12 months are also advised to wait.  Certain medications can make the skin more sensitive to light, so please let us know if you are taking an antibiotic, are on antidepressants, or take diabetic, cardiac or blood pressure medications.  If you have an active sunburn in the area that we  will be treating, please let us know before you come in so we can reschedule!

What payments do you accept?

We accept credit cards, Cash app, Apple Pay and Venmo. Cherry payment plans are also accepted!
